Diane Thompson, Executive Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel
Diane Thompson joined Bridgepoint Education in December 2008. As Executive Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel, she oversees all legal and compliance matters for the company.
Prior to joining the Bridgepoint team, Ms. Thompson spent more than 11 years with the Apollo Group, a multi-billion dollar for-profit education company. Her most recent title was that of Chief Human Resources Officer. In this position, she managed the overall strategic direction of the global Human Resources function for Apollo and its subsidiaries, including executive compensation, management of legal issues, Total Rewards programs, employee relations, compensation and benefits, payroll, and diversity initiatives. Other roles at Apollo included Vice President/Counsel, Human Resources Director, and Employee Relations Manager.
Prior to joining the Apollo Group, she served as a Deputy County Attorney in Pima County, Arizona, as Director of Special Education for the Indian Oasis School District in Sells, Arizona, and Director of Operations for Animal Foundation International in Phoenix, Arizona.
Bridgepoint Education is dedicated to social responsibility and its corporate culture embodies that sentiment. Ms. Thompson previously served as Vice President of the Meadowbrook Educational Foundation and currently serves on the board of directors of the March of Dimes, San Diego Division.
Ms. Thompson has been a member of the Arizona State Bar since 1992. She holds a JD from the University of Arizona College of Law in Tucson, Arizona. She earned her MA degree from Antioch University in San Francisco, California, and her BA degree from St. Cloud University in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
